Msuna Island lies in Matabeleland North, on a stretch of the Zambezi that few travellers ever see. There are no crowds here and no timetable — only the river, the island and the wildlife that shares it.
Each lodge is fully self‑catering, with an all‑inclusive option available on request, supported by dedicated on‑site staff who prepare meals, clean, and take care of the lodge every day. So the only thing left to decide is whether today is for fishing, being out on the boat, or simply doing nothing at all.
Guests may bring their own groceries, or send us a shopping list — we’ll gladly take care of the shopping for you

Three weeks on Msuna Island
Some places simply stay with you long after you’ve left, and Msuna Island is one of them.
Our family of four adults and three children spent almost three unforgettable weeks on Msuna Island, and from the moment we arrived we felt embraced by a gentle warmth that made us feel completely at home. There is a quiet luxury here that cannot be measured by lavish surroundings alone — it is found in the kindness of the people, the peaceful rhythm of the river, and the extraordinary beauty that surrounds you at every turn.
Each day brought new adventures. We cruised along the mighty Zambezi watching crocodiles glide silently through the water and bask in the African sunshine along the riverbanks. We were captivated by pods of hippos, and one of the most treasured moments of our stay was watching tiny hippo calves safely nestled beside their mothers while the unmistakable call of the African Fish Eagle echoed overhead.
Evenings became some of our favourite memories, gathered around glowing bonfires beneath a canopy of stars, sharing stories with family while the sounds of Africa surrounded us. Msuna Island has a remarkable ability to slow time, allowing you to reconnect with nature, with those you love, and with yourself.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Joyce and Abbey, whose kindness, care and genuine hospitality made our stay so incredibly special. We leave with unforgettable memories and grateful hearts, and we already know that we will return.
